Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Quality is critical. Images that are not of high enough quality may produce wallpaper border that falls short of your expectations.
We recommend using the following methods to check the quality of your digital photos: § The simplest approach is to view the photos on your screen at the size you intend to include in the wallpaper border. For border edge images, this will be 1”W x 0.75”H. For internal images, 6 image designs support 4.7”W x 3.6”H images and 5 image designs support 5.6”W x 3.6”H images. Look to make sure your photo is clear at similar sizes. You do not need to crop/resize your photos to these exact dimensions. Our design templates will “size” your images to fit. This alone will NOT guarantee that your images will print well as screen resolution is typically only 72 dpi and good quality prints require a minimum of 150 dpi. § You can also view prints of your photo files. If 4x6 professionally processed prints look good, you should expect similar results when you include them in your personal wallpaper designs. § Check the setting of your digital camera. If you are utilizing the “Fine” or higher setting, you should be capturing photos of high enough quality to use in your wallpaper design. We recommend using a digital camera with a 3.0 MP (mega pixel) or higher sensor. § Utilize photo-editing software to check the actual quality/resolution of your photo images. We recommend using images with a minimum of 150 dpi (dots per inch). 300 dpi photos will insure a high quality border.
Note: Quality settings such as dpi do not impact the sharpness or clarity of your photo due to undesirable movement of the camera or subject. We recommend you check to make sure your photos are clear.
Other non-photo images/graphics that you include in your border design should be of similar quality. It is especially important that graphics including “words or letters” meet these quality standards to avoid potential “fuzzy”edges.
Any images/graphics that you utilize from our libraries have been tested to insure quality printouts. You can feel comfortable using any of our graphics.
Computer monitors and printers differ in the accuracy of their presentation of colors. We recommend that you utilize a known color source (such as an online color chart from a leading paint manufacturer) as a comparison to your wallpaper designs. This will allow you to compare the on-screen colors from the color chart/wheel with your personalized wallpaper design. If you need further verification, you can then get an actual color card at your local retailer to view true color samples using the codes from the online color source. This can help insure matching colors to adjoining painted walls, etc.
We recommend that you order a little extra to insure that you can complete your desired installation. Our award-winning digital printing produces a high quality wallpaper border, but slight variations in color/shade can occur between print runs, so it is best to avoid a second order for the same installation if possible.
Make sure you take into consideration the pattern repeat you selected for your personal wallpaper border design when measuring your room. All rolls include 15 feet of usable wallpaper border. Read below for tips in measuring to determine your roll requirements.
All MemoryBorders come in 15 ft lineal rolls. Your choice of layout impacts the pattern repeat in each roll. You need to consider this when you measure the total feet required to determine the number of rolls you need to order. To measure the total feet required, we recommend using a tape measure or other suitable device to measure the total length of the walls that will be covered. Subtract any breaks in the wall that will not be covered such as windows and doors. Divide the total lineal inches by 180 (15ft x 12 in/ft) then round up to the nearest whole number and you will have the total number of rolls required.
Example: Covering all 4 walls of a 10ft x 14ft room with 2 30” wide windows would require:
2 x (10ft x 12 in/ft) + 2 x (14ft x 12 in/ft) – 30in/window x 2 windows = 576- 60 = 516 in.
516 in / 180 in/roll = 2.87 rolls, so round to 3 rolls
30” design sections are used to create our 15ft MemoryBorder designs. A 30” layout will have the 30” design pattern repeated 6x through a 15 ft roll. A 60” layout will have the 60” design pattern (2 x 30”) repeated 3x in a 15ft roll. A 90” layout will have the 90” design pattern (3 x 30”) repeated 2x in a 15ft roll. A 180” layout will not have ANY repeat in a 15ft roll. Keep this in mind when determining your total roll requirements.
Your choice of a 5 image design vs. a 6 image design also impacts the style of your pattern repeat. The 6 image design is recommended for alternating designs often using a logo/graphic then personal image (photo) repeat pattern. A 5 image design does not work well for an alternating pattern, but allows you to include larger personal photos in a 30” section.

All templates guide you through creating a multiple of 30” design sections. You select the number of 30” design sections you prefer. Single 30” designs will repeat 6x in a 15ft roll. 60” (2 x 30”) designs will repeat 3x in a roll. 90” (3 x 30”) designs repeat 2x in a roll. 180” (6 x 30”) designs provide a 15ft roll with NO repeat. Price varies based on the number of 30” design sections selected.
Next choose your preferred number of images per 30” design section. 6 image designs are best for repeating interior patterns with alternating graphics and personal images/photos.
We recommend 5 image designs to maximize the size of your personal images if you prefer a non-repeating design.

Click on this View PDF button to pop open a new window that displays an Adobe Acrobat .pdf of your MemoryBorder design. The .pdf image will include a watermark which will not be included in your actual design file. This .pdf view allows you to zoom in for a closer look at your design. This low resolution image is not the high quality file that we use to print your personalized wallpaper border. It provides a low resolution “copy” that you can view, save and share with others.
